NSW Aboriginal Land Councils are member-based community organisations that utilise land returned from crown land to provide social outcomes for community i.e., education, programs, housing, protection of Culture and Heritage.
Awabakal Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) was formed in September 1984.
A significant organisation in our community. Land councils were established out of the Land Rights movement and from there the Aboriginal Land Rights Act.
We seek to become the most highly visible and most recognised Aboriginal organisation in the Newcastle Region.
